The February announcement that Jasper is being acquired by Cisco was the most recent in a year of incredible milestones. You may be familiar with how we got to this point – but if you’re not, check out Will Bourne’s incredible article in Inc., which details our decade-long journey from startup to global IoT leader. What you may not know is how exciting the past year has been, and what this indicates for the broader IoT landscape.

Let’s start with basics: the total number of companies using Jasper’s IoT service platform to transform their businesses. In March 2015, we announced that we had 1,900 enterprises on Jasper Control Center. Today, more than 3,500 enterprises rely on Jasper Control Center to launch, manage and monetize their IoT service businesses. That’s an 84 percent increase in the number of businesses on our platform in the last year alone.

Global Expansion
As part of the our commitment to enabling enterprises to rapidly and cost-effectively scale IoT services globally, Jasper continued to expand its footprint to underserved regions while increasing its presence in key markets. In 2015, we increased our mobile operator partnerships to 27 mobile operator groups, representing 100+ mobile operator networks in more than 100 countries. Some of the highlights of our global expansion in the past year include:

  • China market momentum – In Q2 2015, Jasper launched in the world’s largest IoT market, China, with partner China Unicom. Since then, more than 2,500 enterprises have activated trial accounts, and 5+ million SIMs have shipped throughout China.
  • “Digital India” acceleration – We also expanded into India, one of the fastest growing IoT markets in the world, through a partnership with Reliance. In addition to enabling IoT services for all enterprises throughout India, Jasper and Reliance will be delivering the IoT platform and infrastructure needed to facilitate the diverse array of projects under the Government of India’s ‘Digital India’ initiative.
  • Growth in Japan – For years we have collaborated with NTT DoCoMo to enable enterprises across Japan to capture their share of the IoT opportunity, and we also partnered with Softbank in Q3 2015. Collaboration with the two largest mobile operators in Japan increases our reach and will enable more Japanese companies to introduce IoT services that enhance their customers’ experiences.
  • Covering all of Canada – We also expanded our presence in Canada, and Jasper is now the IoT platform used by all three of Canada’s mobile operators – Bell, Rogers and Telus.

High-Impact Alliances
Several of the world’s largest IT solution providers partnered with Jasper in the past year to bring the capabilities of the world’s leading IoT platform to their enterprise customers. Integration of the Jasper platform into existing solutions from these industry leaders makes it even easier for enterprises to launch, manage and monetize their IoT services:

  • Microsoft – Through joint engineering efforts, Jasper and Microsoft are combining the power of the Jasper Control Center platform and the Microsoft azure IoT Suite to enable enterprises to bring new IoT services to market faster, facilitate their shift from product businesses to services businesses, and rapidly scale.
  • IBM – The integration of Jasper’s IoT service platform into IBM’s IoT Foundation will help enterprises develop complete IoT solutions, extending IBM’s real-time information management and analytics with Jasper’s IoT service management capabilities.
  • SAP – The Jasper and SAP partnership brings the business-critical capabilities of Jasper’s IoT service platform and the SAP HANA® platform together, creating business value for customers and partners by analyzing service subscription and usage data.
  • Salesforce – This partnership integrated Jasper’s IoT service platform with Salesforce’s Customer Success Platform, empowering enterprises to deliver IoT services that provide greater value to customers while introducing new revenue streams.

Worldwide Accolades
Jasper’s industry, thought and technology leadership have been recognized frequently over the past year. Among industry awards and recognitions received are the highly coveted GSMA Global Mobile Award for Best Mobile Innovation for IoT (2015), the World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneer 2015 Award, the Telecoms.com award for IoT/M2M Evolution, the Frost & Sullivan 2015 Global Cellular M2M and IoT Industry Product Leadership Award, and three silver American Business (Stevie) Awards for Company of the Year, Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year and Tech Innovator of the Year.

Jasper was also a mainstay in industry leadership lists, including: Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 for the second consecutive year, Forbes’ Top 100 IoT Startups of 2015CRN’s 2015 Internet of Things 50Network Computing’s 10 Leaders in Internet of Things InfrastructureM2M Now’s Power Players in the Internet of Things, IDG’s 15 Biggest Enterprise-Focused Unicorns, and Business Insider’s 25 Enterprise Startups to Bet Your Career on in 2015.

Together, Cisco and Jasper will be able to accelerate the IoT success of our mobile operator partners, enterprise users and ecosystem partners.  By joining forces we can more quickly realize our vision of enabling enterprises worldwide to deliver connected services that enhance their customers’ experiences while capturing their share of the multibillion dollar IoT opportunity.
